MYMOON, Chapter 29:
“Panli, where are you now?”
“I’m driving out from the house. Had to come back to switch cars.”
“Huh? … Where did you go? Why did you need to go back to change cars?”
“I dropped off Chubby Cheeks at the airport. He wanted to pick up
Phii Fah…”
“…”
“I drove Phii Fah’s car to drop him off.”
“…”
“So I had to come back to switch to your car.”
“Oh…”
“…”
“Then you don’t need to come back to pick up Klai. Just head straight to the book event. I’ll take a taxi there myself.”
“Is that okay, KhunKlai?”
“It’s fine, puppy… saves time too.”
“Alright, let’s do that.”
Cool…
“And don’t forget to send me the license plate number once you’re in the taxi.”
“Okay, got it.”
“See you at the event.”
The conversation between Klai and Panli from a while ago floated back into his mind as he stepped out of the pink taxi. The petite figure glanced at the watch on his wrist before walking into the bustling book fair.
His almond-shaped eyes scanned the surroundings, taking in the atmosphere. Klai loved the book fair here so much because he’d never been to one held in such an open space before. The evening ambiance, with the sun setting, made it feel even warmer.
Seeing publishers’ staff chatting with readers with smiles, some people quietly caressing books before pulling out their wallets, others showing certain books to their companions as if recommending a favorite—these scenes made a book lover like him smile with joy.
While waiting for Panli to arrive, Klai browsed books at various booths and decided to buy a few. He wandered around the fair until he stopped at one publisher’s booth…
“This one’s really good… highly recommend it.”
Klai gave a faint smile as he shifted his gaze from a book titled A Piece of the Moon to a female staff member who had come to stand in front of him.
“I’ve seen reviews for it,” Klai said. “I’ve been meaning to buy it several times but never had the chance. It’s great that I found it today…” He reached out to pick up the book with a crescent moon on the cover.
“…Where do I pay?”
“Right this way…”
The petite figure followed the staff member into the booth. Klai bowed his head slightly to thank her for leading him to the queue. He craned his neck to count the people waiting to pay when a vibration from his phone caught his attention.
Pulling out his phone, he saw the name My Moon displayed on the glass screen. Klai smiled faintly and answered the call immediately.
“Yes, puppy?”
[KhunKlai… the traffic is insane.]
Klai smiled to himself when he heard the puppy’s frustrated tone.
“Puppy… take it easy, okay?”
[Have you been at the event for a while already, KhunKlai?]
“Just got here not long ago…”
[I’m so sorry… Honestly, I should’ve gotten there first. Now
KhunKlai has to walk around alone.]
“No need to apologize, puppy…”
[…]
“Do you know that I go to book fairs alone almost every year?”
[…]
“I never feel lonely… Strolling around looking at books is so much fun.”
[… I believe it now that you are really happy. From the sound of your voice… if I hadn’t called, you’d probably be so engrossed in browsing books that you’d forget everything else.]
Klai chuckles softly, as if what Panli said is true. The thing that captivates him, making him forget everything and dive into another world, is books.
But The Same Moon is just as important to his passions.
No matter which world Klai sinks into,
Every world will always have this moon.
“How could I forget my date?”
[…]
“If I forgot, that’d be too cruel.”
The other end laughs before saying, [Even if you were cruel to me… I’d still love you.]
“Tone it down a bit, puppy… that kind of talk is making Klai fall for you even more.”
[How much is you falling for me right now?]
The one being asked smiles faintly while handing a book to another female staff member at the cashier. Klai nods lightly with a smile when she asks softly, “Just this one book, right?”
The big puppy’s question makes Klai feel too shy to answer in front of others. But if he doesn’t respond, he’s afraid Panli might feel hurt. Thinking back to every phone call they’ve had, Panli has never dodged his questions, no matter if he was with friends or anyone else. Panli always answers with heartfelt words.
That makes Klai realize…
The opinions of others…
They’re not as important as the feelings of the person we love.
“More than you, more than I… more than both of us combined.”
[Getting cheekier every day…]
Klai laughs softly before shifting the phone from his hand to rest against his shoulder, as he needs to pull money from his wallet for the cashier. He hands her the bill while saying…
“No need for a bag. I brought a cloth one.”
“Got it. Thank you for not taking a bag, sir.”
“You’re welcome…”
The customer nods and smiles at her before slipping the book into his white cloth bag. Klai grabs the phone again with his hand and asks the big puppy as he walks out of the book booth.
“Where’s my puppy at?”
[Klai, I’m almost there.]
“Okay…”
[Did you buy a lot of books?]
“Bought quite a few already.”
[Keep track of the total, and your puppy will take care of it.]
“No, no, I’ll pay for these myself.”
[Who’s your lover?]
Klai gave a small smile, shaking his head lightly. “Panli’s, of course.”
[Exactly… that’s why you don’t need to spend your own money.]
Klai laughed softly before saying, “Puppy, really.”
[I’ll see you at the event, okay? Gotta find a parking spot first.]
“Alright…”
[…]
“Panli, Panli!”
[Yes…]
“I’ll go wait by the stage…” he said, glancing at the small stage where a singer was chatting with the audience, “…because the live music’s about to start.”
[Okay…]
After hanging up with Panli, Klai walked toward the wide, grassy area. He stopped a fair distance from the stage and sat down on the grass, just like others waiting for the live music.
His sharp eyes scanned the surroundings, a gentle smile forming as he saw quite a few people sitting around him. Some came alone, some with friends, and some with their lovers.
Klai looked up at the sky, now painted in deeper hues after the sun had dipped below the horizon. Yet, the soft yellow moon and the tiny yellow lights twinkling like stars on the big tree kept the night from being swallowed by darkness…
And Klai had escaped his own dark past.
As the music began to play…
“She’s standing there, right by my side… I never even dreamed I’d find her among a million people in this city. Without searching for anyone… when she claimed me.” When the same old moon appears… When Panli sat down beside him.
And when he saw the person next to him smiling at him…
“I used to be someone else, in a city of loneliness where I had no presence, until she came and claimed my heart, as if my room changed colors, more beautiful than anything I could find elsewhere.”
“Did you wait long?”
“Not at all… Panli, you’re right on time.”
Panli flashed a bright smile before reaching to hold his hand. They locked eyes amid the love song, and as they smiled at each other with hearts overflowing, Klai thought…
Oh, time… it’s as if it stopped moving. This city isn’t lonely anymore. Just for today, I have her.
“…”
She’s standing there, right by my side. I never even dreamed I’d find her among a million people in this city. Without searching for anyone, when she claimed me.
Klai smiled and leaned his head on the broad shoulder, watching the singer on stage perform with a smile. The large hand let go of his and moved to wrap around his shoulder instead. Panli gently rubbed his shoulder…
If one day something comes between us, making us misunderstand, I want to tell you: if I’m wrong, I’m sorry.
“…”
“As if our world has changed colors, more beautiful than anything I could find elsewhere. Oh, time… it’s as if it stopped moving. This city isn’t lonely anymore. From now on, I have her.”
“…”
She’s standing there, right by my side. I never even dreamed I’d find her among a million people in this city. Without searching for anyone, when she claimed me.
“…”
As if our world has changed colors, more beautiful than anything I could find elsewhere. Oh, time… it’s as if it stopped moving. This city isn’t lonely anymore. From now on, I have her. She’s standing there, right by my side. I never even dreamed I’d find her among a million people in this city. Without searching for anyone, when she claimed me.
At that moment, Panli moved his hand from the shoulder to wrap around his waist instead…
“I’ll hold her close so she won’t go anywhere, because today isn’t a dream. From the moment she entered my heart, I no longer need to search for anyone when she claimed me.”
Klai smiled, thinking… Books, art, music.
And “a lover” is the finest thing to uplift the heart.
“So, Theerak went to see Phii Fah just like that?”
The petite figure, wearing a white shirt and shorts, asked while straddling a sturdy lap. Panli nodded slightly, moving both hands to gently hold the rounded hips.
“Yeah… he was hugging Phii Fah right in the middle of the airport. I was secretly watching.”
“…”
“Seeing that, I decided to head back, thinking he’s definitely going back with Phii Fah.”
“…”
“Chubby-cheeks probably doesn’t care about me anymore…”
Klaijai laughed until his eyes crinkled, then gave a quick kiss on his lips as if to comfort him. “Aww… Klai’s puppy has turned into a sad little dog.”
“See how pitiful I am, KhunKlai? You’ve gotta comfort me a lot, okay?”
“There, there, puppy… How about I make you some yogurt?”
Hearing Klaijai’s words, Panli dramatically “fainted,” leaning his head back against the sofa and closing his eyes. But he broke into a smile when he heard the delighted laughter of the petite figure. Panli kept his eyes closed, then heard a soft whisper by his ear.
“What does I need to do to wake the puppy up…?”
Panli smiled with his eyes still closed. He tapped a finger on his lips and said, “A kiss.”
“I figured as much…”
As the gentle voice of the petite figure faded, soft lips brushed lightly against his. The sweet taste of the kiss made Panli slowly open his eyes.
Klaijai pulled back from the kiss, flashing him a sweet smile.
Damn heart!
It was never yours, Li!
“Can I faint again?”
“Sure… but this time, the puppy might be out for a long, long time.”
“…”
“Because I’m done kissing.”
“You sure you kissed me just now?”
Klaijai burst out laughing, then playfully punched his chest once. “Puppy!”
“Hey! KhunKlai… what did I say wrong? That wasn’t a peck just now.”
“…”
“That was a kiss…”
“I’m done arguing with you, puppy.”
Panli laughs before saying, “Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing.”
“…”
“Let’s change the topic so my little troublemaker can take a break from blushing.”
“Then let’s talk about Theerak again…” Klaijai says, gently cupping
Panli’s face with both hands before continuing, “…So, are Theerak and
Phii Fah a couple yet, puppy?”
“Probably not yet. Chubby Cheeks is planning to officially court Phii Fah first.”
“Court Phii Fah? Weren’t they both already flirting with each other all this time?”
“All this time, Phii Fah’s been the one smoothly flirting with him. So
Theerak wants to be the one to make Phii Fah happy for a change.”
Klaijai smiles faintly before saying, “Theerak is so adorable… Even though he knows Phii Fah likes him, he still wants to court Phii Fah first.”
“…”
“Honestly, Theerak could just be a couple with Phii Fah already.”
“I think stuff like this is super cute…”
“Like seeing ourselves, right?” Panli asks with a subtle smile.
Klaijai nods firmly. “Mhm…”
“The things you find cute… it’s about not caring about anything else except the person you love.”
“…”
“We don’t care if others understand the status of our relationship.”
“…”
“We don’t care what others think about our business.”
“…”
“We only care about the feelings of the person we love…”
“…”
“Nothing is clearer than the smile of the person we love.”
“…”
“Just making Theerak smile… everything becomes clear.”
“…”
“Clear that we love each other.”
Klaijai gave a small smile before saying, “I love my puppy so much…”
“Even if I says everything’s clear, I’m still waiting, you know.”
“…”
“…Waiting for you to promote me to boyfriend so I can proudly show off to everyone.”
The smaller figure sitting on his lap burst out laughing before saying, “Does you know what I’m waiting for?”
“No clue… What’s you waiting for?”
“Waiting for you to eat my yogurt first.”
“Bring it over then… I’ll finish the whole tub.”
Klaijai laughed heartily, pulling both hands away from his face and wrapping his arms around his neck instead, resting his chin on his shoulder. “I’m not that mean.”
“…”
“But wait a little longer, puppy… It won’t be long. I got everything ready, just waiting for the right moment.”
“I’ll wait…” he said, pausing briefly. One thick hand lifted the hem of the smaller figure’s shirt and slipped into his shorts to touch his round backside. “…But once we’re boyfriends, I won’t wait anymore.”
“Puppy~… Take your hand out now.”
Panli chuckled low in his throat, but he still didn’t pull his hand out of the smaller figure’s shorts. Klaijai broke the embrace and glared at him.
Panli bit his lip slightly, a sly idea forming in his mind…
“I know now what makes yogurt taste good.”
“…”
Panli, still biting his lip, stared deeply into the smaller figure’s eyes, his thick hand squeezing the soft backside before saying, “Yogurt tastes best with peaches.”
“…”
“But only your peaches.”
“Puppy!… You’re getting too sly!”
Panli burst out laughing when he managed to make his clever little troublemaker, who’d been on top of his game all day, blush and lose his cool. Klaijai had made him flustered plenty of times before. Now it was time for this puppy to get some revenge on his owner.
Panli smirked, leaning his face closer to the other. The cheeks of the person sitting on his lap turned a soft shade of red. He let out a quiet chuckle, finding his little troublemaker utterly adorable when shy like this.
Knock, knock.
The sound of knocking at the door instantly grabbed both their attention. Panli froze, turning to look at the large door. He furrowed his brows slightly as the smaller figure slipped off his lap. His large hand reached out to grab the wrist of the little guy who was about to walk toward the door.
“It’s this late already… I’ll get it.”
“…”
“KhunKlai, just wait here.”
Panli stood to his full height after finishing his sentence, releasing the smaller guy’s hand and striding toward the large door. He quickly opened it, curious to see who was visiting at this hour.
But when he saw who was standing on the other side, Panli had the urge to slam the door shut without caring about manners. He couldn’t, though, because his annoying friends were quick to brace the door with their hands.
“What the hell are you guys doing here?”
“We wanna watch the game with you.”
“No… I’m not watching this match.”
“Panli! You can’t just hole up in Klai’s room all the time, man…” Boss said with a serious face and tone.
“Yeah… you gotta hang out with your friends sometimes,” Ne chimed in.
“Exactly… you need to give Klai some personal space,” Wit added. “You guys keep saying the right stuff!” Pie nodded, agreeing with everyone.
Panli quickly raised a hand to stop the last friend who was about to open his mouth. “Enough, you idiots!”
“…”
“Go back home. I’m staying with m-…”
“Who’s here, puppy?”
“It’s me, Boss myself, Klai!”
“And me too! Im Ne, The president of the hundred-baht-a-day club!”
“I’m Om, the one you met at the open house.”
“And I’m Wit… the one you never met.” Thud!
“You buffalo! Introducing yourself like that, you’re gonna confuse Klai!” Pai smacked Wit’s head hard while speaking in a stern voice, then turned to flash a smile at the petite figure who had just appeared at the door.
“As for me…” one of the friends standing at the back spoke up, raising his hand high before squeezing his way to the front of the door and smiling at Klaijai. “…I’m Joke, and I’m single.” Smack!
“You jerk!” Panli didn’t just talk—he swung his hand to smack Joke’s mouth.
“Why the hell did you hit my mouth, Li?! I’m really single!”
“No need to flaunt your single status to my wife. He’s not interested in you.”
Panli spoke irritably, glaring at his close friends standing there awkwardly. They’d brought horns used for cheering at soccer games and even scarves for their favorite team. They were fully prepared. Panli thought he needed to shoo them away as fast as possible… otherwise…
“Is everyone here to watch soccer at Klai’s place?”
“Yeah, yeah!”
“Yup!”
“Klai, do you allow it? We want to watch the game with Li too.”
Tonight was not going to be peaceful anymore…
“KhunKlai…”
Panli started, turning to look at the person beside him. The petite figure, who held the upper hand as the owner of the place, flashed him a smile. He stood with his arms crossed, glancing between Panli and the group of friends led by Fat Boss. At that moment, Klaijai bit his lip slightly while looking at him, then gestured toward the room as if giving permission.
“…I allow it. Let’s cheer for the game to the fullest!”
“Woo!”
“KhunKlai…!”
Panli stammered as he looked at the petite figure standing with arms crossed, sporting a victorious smile. Klaijai stepped back slightly to make room for his friends to enter the room. His almond-shaped eyes blinked rapidly as he watched several friends walk past. When Joke, the last friend, stepped beyond the spot where the two of them had been locking eyes…
The mischievous one stepped forward to stand face-to-face with him. A slender hand reached up to gently stroke his cheek, and with a soft voice, he said…
“Since puppy loves peaches so much… you gotta face my payback like this.”
When Klaijai finished speaking, he walked back into the room. Panli tried to compose himself while closing the large door. He shook his head, thinking…
Who the hell taught you to get cheeky with your own wife, huh?!
Watch it, you damn puppy… keep this in your head:
Don’t mess with Klaijai again… “This bouquet…”
“Don’t touch it, you damn Wit!”
“What kind of plant is this?”
“Don’t grab Khun Klai’s plant, Om!”
“This cheat sheet…”
“Don’t mess with my troublemaker’s desk, Joke!”
“This popcorn is so damn good…”
“That’s mine, you damn Boss!”
Klai, standing by the microwave, laughs as he watches the big puppy point and scold his friends scurrying around the room. The possessive guy on the sofa rubs his face and lets out a huge sigh.
Ding!
The loud ding signaling that the big puppy’s popcorn is done grabs Klai’s attention. He turns to take the popcorn bag out of the microwave and pours it into a large bowl. Earlier, he’d made a batch for Boss since Boss said he was starving. Worried the puppy might feel left out, Klai made some for him too.
“If you guys don’t sit still, I’ll kick you all out!”
“Alright, alright, we’ll sit still,” they agree.
“Wit, don’t touch the bouquet. Om, come sit already!” Boss calls out to the others while plopping down on the floor in front of the TV. The big puppy is so protective of the sofa that he won’t let his friends sit on it, and they all obediently settle on the floor.
“Joke, come sit next to me…” Ne says, patting the floor loudly.
Klai smiles faintly as he carries the popcorn bowl to Panli. The way
Panli’s friends try to organize themselves makes Klai feel fond of them. He flashes a smile at everyone waiting to watch the soccer match, and the big puppy’s adorable friends smile back. Just then, a large pillow flies through the air and smacks Joke hard on the head.
“You damn Joke! You are right in front of me, you bastard!”
“W-What, Li? I just smiled at Klai!”
“That’s exactly what you shouldn’t do!”
Klai shook his head lightly, chuckling, before placing the popcorn bowl on the coffee table. The super possessive big puppy looked up at him with pleading eyes.
“KhunKlai… can you kick them out?”
“…”
“Because just a little more… just a tiny bit more, really.”
“…”
“I’m gonna lose it.”
Klai burst out laughing before saying, “Puppy… calm down, calm down.”
“How can I calm down, KhunKlai? I know they’re deliberately messing with me.”
“…”
The big puppy spoke while wrapping both arms around his waist, giving him a pitiful look. “…And you even let them come over to watch the game… playing right into their hands.”
Klai gave a small smile and moved both hands to cup the other’s face before deciding to tell the truth. “Puppy, honestly, I’m not trying to get back at you.”
“…”
“I just want you to spend time with your friends like before.”
“…”
“They all went out of their way to come to your place, which means they must really miss you.”
“…”
“Yeah, yeah, we missed you a ton, Li!”
“Shut up, you jerk… I know you guys just want to see me go crazy.”
At the end of Panli’s words, all his friends burst into loud laughter, and even he couldn’t help but smile amusedly. When the big puppy saw him laughing along with his friends, he pulled his waist, making him straddle his lap.
“You’re enjoying this… seeing me like this makes you happy.”
Klai smiled softly while meeting the gaze of the sturdy figure, thinking… the reason he allowed Panli’s friends to come watch the game at their place was because he wanted him to spend time with his friends like before. And Klai also wanted to be a part of Panli’s life with his friends.
In the future, Klai, Panli, and everyone else would be able to hang out comfortably together. Since Panli loves his friends quite a bit, being able to get along with them was a good thing. And another important reason was…
Klai didn’t want ‘a lover’ to be the only source of happiness in Panli’s life. He wanted him to find joy in all the things he used to do, just like before.
“Panli…” Klai said, reaching up to cradle the other’s face before planting a quick kiss on the big puppy’s lips. “…Whatever you used to do with his friends, I still want you to do the same. Just with me as part of it now.”
“…”
“Does my puppy understand what I’m saying?”
The listener nodded slightly, glancing between him and the friends sitting on the floor. “I get it.”
“Then stop being grumpy, stop being possessive, and have fun watching the game with your friends.”
“But where’s you going?” Panli asked as Klai made to get off his lap.
“I’m gonna study a bit for a quiz the day after tomorrow.”
“Then these guys can move to Ne’s place to watch instead, so they don’t disturb you.”
“No, it’s totally fine. Klai’s cool with it,” he said, sliding off the sturdy lap and standing to his full height before turning to Panli’s friends sitting in front of the TV. “Have fun watching the game, everyone. I’ll be studying in my room.”
“…”
“And…” Klai turned back to the big puppy, who was staring at him intently, before adding, “…everyone can sit on the sofa now. Panli’s probably not so possessive anymore.”
“…you could just bring his books out here and study with me.”
“Klai, Klai…”
“Yeah, we won’t sit on the sofa. We’re good here on the floor.”
“Look, Om only brought this horn as a prop. No plans to blow it.”
“We’ll cheer for the game as quietly as possible so we don’t disturb Klai.”
The room’s owner broke into a wide smile at the thoughtfulness of his guests. Everyone seemed so understanding and ready to adapt to coexist comfortably. Klai, still smiling broadly, glanced at the puppy, who was nodding at his friends with a slight smirk before looking up at him and saying…
“My buddies can be a handful sometimes, but they’re good friends.”
“Damn it, I’m gonna cry!”
“If we hadn’t come to Klai’s place, would we ever hear this from
Panli’s mouth?”
“Exactly! Gotta thank Khun Klaijai for getting this foul-mouthed guy who’s always cussing out his friends to say something like this.”
“Just this once, you jerks!”
Klai laughed as he watched Panli banter with his friends. Then a large hand reached out to hold his. Klai raised an eyebrow, looking at the big puppy who was sitting there with a small smile.
“What does my puppy want now?”
“Will you come sit and read with me?”
Klai could never resist Panli’s pleading. He smiled softly before nodding at the other. “Mhm… Klai can bring a book to read here.”
The big puppy grinned widely and said, “KhunKlai, take a seat. I will grab the book for you.”
Panli pulled his hand to sit back down on the long sofa. He stood to his full height and quickly strode over to his work desk. Panli glanced back at him and asked…
“Which subject, KhunKlai?”
“AL236.”
“Found it yet, Li? Need me to help?” Joke chimed in.
“Just sit there quietly, Joke…” Wit said, turning to flash a smile at Klai.
“Found it! This one, right?” Panli held up an orange book to show him.
Klai nodded eagerly. “Yes, yes, that’s the one.”
The big puppy returned with the orange book and plopped down beside him. He handed it over, and Klai couldn’t help but smile widely at the bright grin and lively sparkle in the other’s eyes.
Looks like Panli really wanted him around during the soccer match…
“Everyone, cheer for the game as usual. Klai can read his book… it’s all good.”
“Got it!”
“KhunKlai…”
“Yes?”
When Klai turned toward the voice, he saw the person beside him smiling at him. This time, it was a smile he’d never seen before—a smile laced with a certain feeling…
“Thank you…”
“…”
“Thank you for becoming a part of us.”
Klai smiled and said, “No need to thank me, Panli. It’s just a small thing we should do for each other.”
“No one’s as great as my Klaijai.”
The one being complimented burst out laughing, then leaned back to lie on the long sofa, resting his head on the sturdy lap. Klai placed the book on his chest and began flipping through the pages. His almondshaped eyes drifted from the dense text to meet the gaze of the owner of the large hand gently stroking his head.
Panli smiles faintly while looking at the guy lying on his lap, then whispers softly, “I love you.” Klai presses his lips together to hold back a smile before saying…
“Puppy… I need to focus.”
The big puppy laughs heartily and nods. “The puppy won’t disturb
KhunKlai anymore.”
Klai returns his attention to the book in front of him. Once he regains his focus, he dives deep into the exam material. Despite the background noise of the soccer commentary on the TV and the occasional cheers from Panli’s friends, it doesn’t break his concentration. Normally, he can read anywhere, anytime—no need for a silent environment.
Initially, he considered studying in the bedroom, worried that his presence might make everyone feel too self-conscious to cheer loudly, which would dampen their fun.
“Is it going in… is it going in?!”
“Y-Yes, it’s in!”
“Hell yeah!”
“It went in!!”
“That’s what I’m talking about!”
But now, Klai lifts his eyes from the text and looks up at the owner of the lap, who’s laughing joyfully with his friends. Boss jumps up to highfive Panli in excitement. The lively atmosphere makes Klai break into a wide smile.
Panli shifts his gaze from the TV and looks down at him, flashing a bright smile. He reaches for Klai’s hand, brings it to his lips for a loud kiss, and whispers…
“Puppy’s thrilled~”
Klai chuckles softly before asking, “Didn’t the puppy tell his friends he wasn’t watching this match?”
“Back then, the puppy was just bragging… because the puppy wanted to be alone with KhunKlai.”
Klai laughs, watching the big puppy grin widely.
He thinks to himself…
We love seeing him this happy.
And at the same time, he probably loves that we understand his passions.
Even if we don’t fully get it… we’ll try our best to understand as much as we can.
…
“Look up a bit more.”
“Mhm…” Water streams from the showerhead onto his brown hair.
The smaller guy, with both arms wrapped around his torso, tilts his head up slightly. Panli moves one hand to gently support the back of Klaijai’s neck, before continuing…
After Panli and his friends finished cheering for the football match, Klaijai complained about feeling sticky and wanting to take another shower. He then playfully begged to shower with Panli. Unable to resist his puppy-like charm, Panli agreed.
Panli looked at the smaller figure gazing up at him while hugging him. As warm water poured over the fluffy head, the white foam gradually dissolved. Yet, the sweet scent of shampoo lingered in the brown hair.
The taller man bit his lip slightly while gazing at the sweet face, his eyes trailing down to the stubborn nose, the thin, faintly red lips, and the smooth white neck. At that moment, Panli thought about charging a little
“shampoo fee.”
Panli leaned in close to the smaller figure, his lips brushing lightly against the soft white neck before pulling away and moving to press a kiss on the thin lips.
Kiss.
“Puppy~… no, no,” Klaijai teased.
The “puppy,” who had just been scolded by his owner, grinned before planting a kiss on the tip of the smaller man’s nose, who was still looking up since the soap foam hadn’t been fully rinsed off. Panli gently rubbed the back of the other’s neck and pressed another kiss on the soft lips.
Kiss.
Klaijai smiled and said, “The puppy doesn’t listen to I at all, does he?” Kiss.
If he had listened, he wouldn’t have kissed Klaijai’s lips again.
Kiss.
And again…
Kiss.
And yet again, until the one being kissed broke into a smile.
Panli flashed a bright smile while repeatedly pressing kisses on the faintly red lips. The sound of “kiss” echoing over and over made both of them burst into laughter.
“Don’t look up yet, KhunKlai. I haven’t finished rinsing,” Panli said.
“If I don’t hurry and look up, you will keep teasing like this,” Klaijai replied.
“I won’t tease anymore… but you have to stay still first,” Panli said.
“Alright…” Klaijai agreed.
Panli stopped teasing the smaller man and moved his hand from the back of his neck to gently stroke the soft, smooth hair. Then, he leaned down to press another kiss on the thin lips, signaling…
“All done.”
“Okay~” Klaijai responded, pulling away from the hug.
“Thanks, puppy.”
“Can you change from saying thank you to something else?”
“No… because the puppy already charged a kiss for the shampoo.”
Panli smiled before saying, “Earlier, I should’ve given you more kisses…”
“Enough, puppy.”
“Alright then…” Panli said, raising the showerhead slightly above Klaijai’s shoulder, then moving his other hand to gently rub the smooth skin, cleaning the other’s body. “Come on… I’ll wash you up.”
At this moment, Klai nodded in agreement with the taller man. He started stepping back as the bare figure in front of him moved closer. When Klai shifted his gaze from the strong chest and looked up into the long, narrow eyes, he caught a glint in Panli’s eyes—a glint that made
Klai feel a rush of heat throughout his body…
“Puppy… don’t.”
“What’s you thinking about?”
“…”
“Thinking something naughty?” Panli said with a chuckle.
“Well, you’re the one… making a naughty face.”
The big puppy laughed heartily before saying, “What kind of face am I making?”
“Go look in the mirror yourself… Klai can’t explain it.”
Panli laughed, clearly amused, before saying, “I’m not really thinking anything naughty, honest.”
“I think… we should hurry up and finish showering before puppy actually starts thinking naughty thoughts.”
“Okay,” Panli said with a laugh, then continued, “…KhunKlai, turn around for me, I’ll wash the soap off your back.”
Klai nodded and turned toward the white tiled wall, his slender hands pressing against the cold tiles. Warm water cascaded over his body as a large hand lightly touched his back, then began to gently rub across his skin.
The taller man moved closer to Klai, their bodies soon pressed together as if they were one. Klai glanced down at the showerhead that had fallen to the floor, warm water flowing and touching the tips of his toes.
Panli embraced him from behind, his thick arms tightly wrapping around Klai’s waist. Hot lips lightly brushed against his shoulder. Klai turned his head to look at the owner of the heavy breaths humming near his ear.
At that moment, Klai saw the predator’s glint in those eyes again. Damp blonde hair fell slightly over Panli’s face. Klai swallowed hard as sharp teeth gently nipped at his shoulder.
“Feeling fluttery again, huh?”
“…”
One strong hand slid up to rest on his chest. “Your heart’s racing…”
“Ugh, puppy… I have early classes tomorrow.”
“…”
“No way… or I will be too exhausted to wake up.”
Panli chuckled low in his throat before saying, “You’re thinking dirty again.”
“Puppy, you’re gonna get it…”
“…”
“I knows what the puppy’s thinking, doesn’t I?”
The puppy laughed delightedly before asking, “And what’s the puppy thinking?”
“The puppy’s thinking about eating me…”
“Nonsense.”
“…”
“The puppy isn’t thinking about eating all of you.”
“…”
“The puppy just wants to taste your fruit…”
The moment Panli’s words hit, Klai’s body temperature spiked. He took a deep breath, filling his lungs, then placed a hand over his left chest to soothe his heart, which was pounding like a drum. The other’s pleased chuckle only made his heart race even faster.
“Can I have a little taste of your fruit?”
“…”
“Just a tiny bit… I promise.”
Klai turned his head to look at the taller figure again. Their eyes met in the humid heat, and there wasn’t a trace of hunger in the other’s gaze. All Klai saw was a pleading look, asking for his love. Panli gave a faint smile before pressing his lips to Klai’s shoulder.
Panli made Klai believe that if he refused this request, the other would stop everything with understanding. No matter how much Panli wanted him, he had never once taken advantage of him. So Klai decided to speak…
“Just a tiny bit, puppy…”
Panli smiled softly and nodded. “Okay.”
Klai didn’t know what Panli meant by “eating a peach,” but he simply trusted his lover. As soon as Klai gave his consent, the strong arms embracing him began to loosen. Both large hands moved to grip his waist.
Klai bit his lip when hot lips touched the nape of his neck. He lowered his head slightly as his pale eyelids slowly closed, his slender hands resting on the tiled surface once more.
The smaller man arched his body inadvertently as those hot lips trailed down to the middle of his back. Klai felt the pull of suction from Panli’s full lips, which pressed against his smooth, fair skin, leaving rose-petalcolored marks across his slender back.
Klai bit his lip hard when a wet tongue traced along the curve of his hips, and he instinctively held his breath as Panli pressed his lips to his rounded buttocks.
“Ah! Puppy…”
But at that moment, Klai let out a startled cry as sharp teeth sank forcefully into that spot, as if wanting to bury their fangs. Yet, when Panli withdrew his teeth, he planted a soothing kiss.
“That hurts…”
“Sorry… the puppy got a bit too eager.”
Klai let out a small hum of protest in his throat before allowing the “puppy” to play with his “peach” to his heart’s content. Panli bit and sucked, leaving marks. He couldn’t believe such small actions could affect his breathing.
But Klai had to believe it, because every time the tip of that wet tongue lightly traced along his hips, it made his breath catch.
And as if Panli knew his arousal was reaching an unstoppable peak, he stopped all actions and stood up to his full height. He embraced Klai from behind as before, then gently kissed his shoulder.
Klai let out a quiet sigh, silently thanking the other for stopping before something else awakened. The taller man tightened his embrace and whispered…
“Just a little taste… as promised.”
Klai turned his head to look at the owner of the warm embrace and said, “Thank you for keeping your promise, puppy… or I would’ve been in trouble.”
Panli chuckled in his throat. “If I didn’t stop… I’d be in trouble too.”
Klai laughed at Panli’s words before turning to face him. Panli still held him close, and Klai’s slender hands moved to cup the other’s handsome, mischievous face.
“What should I do…”
“…”
“I can never resist you, puppy.”
Panli laughed and leaned down to press a kiss to his lips. “With a puppy this good at begging, you can’t hold out.”
Klai wrinkled his nose at the big puppy’s cheeky expression before standing on his toes to reach up and tap the well-shaped lips. “Such a biter…”
The taller man, who had been kissed, laughed with delight. Panli leaned down and rested his forehead against Klai’s. Klai smiled softly, locking eyes with him. At that moment…
They gazed into each other’s eyes.
They held each other close.
And they…
“I love you.”
“Love you too.”
…confessed their love.
“Puppy… there are more marks than I expected.”
The “puppy” lying on the bed chuckled lightly before saying, “Just a little…”
Klai plopped down beside the big puppy after coming back from the bathroom. He already knew the other had left marks on his body, but he didn’t expect there to be this many. Klai could still vividly recall his own expression when he saw the red bruises reflected in the mirror.
Klai’s eyes widened, and his mouth dropped open in shock…
“Puppy…”
“Are the marks on your collarbone darker than the others?” Panli asked.
Klai pursed his lips and nodded slightly, “Yeah… there’s even a bite mark…”
Panli, lying on the bed, laughed with amusement. He scooted closer to Klai, wrapping both arms around his waist before nuzzling his face into Klai’s lap as he always did.
“That’s because this puppy is fierce~”
“Does the puppy want to be taken to the temple and left there?” Klai teased.
Panli burst into laughter before saying, “KhunKlai… don’t be so mean.”
Klai shook his head lightly, a small smile forming as the puppy rubbed his cheek affectionately against his lap. One slender hand moved to gently stroke the golden blonde hair. Then, a vibrating notification sound drew his attention.
Bzzzt~
The free hand reached for the phone on the nightstand. Panli, who had been resting on Klai’s lap, quickly sat up and said in an annoyed tone…
“Who the hell is calling my wife this late at night?”
Klai burst out laughing before saying, “Your father-in-law, that’s who.”
“For real, KhunKlai?”
“Really.”
After answering the big puppy, Klai quickly picked up the call.
“Yes, Dad…”
[Have you gone to bed yet, son?]
“Not yet, Dad…”
[Oh…]
“Is something up, Dad?”
[Uh, oh… nothing, son. I just finished some work and was thinking of you, so I wanted to call and chat.]
“Oh… I remember we just talked a few days ago, right?”
[Uh, yeah… that’s right.]
Klai narrowed his eyes slightly, as if trying to catch something suspicious from the other end, because his father’s tone and words seemed highly dubious.
“Dad…”
[Listen, son… the butter cookies that… that…]
“…the ones Aunt Lin brought to my condo, right?”
[…]
Klai stayed silent, listening to the sound of his father’s breathing, before deciding to continue the conversation.
“I haven’t finished eating them yet, Dad.”
[Oh, uh… right, son.]
“…”
[Klai…]
“Yes, Dad.”
[Thank you, son… for always being my happiness.]
“…”
[…for being my love, my everything.]
“…”
[…and for making our family complete, as it is now.]
“Klai has to thank Dad too for raising me so well.”
[…]
“For making Klai understand so many things in life.”
[…]
“Until I became the person I am today.”
[I love you, Klaijai with all his heart.]
No matter how much time passes…
This sentence… will always hold value in his heart.
“I love Dad too…”
[So… is you sleeping alone tonight?]
The person asked pursed his lips to hold back a smile before saying,
“Did Aunt tell Dad about Panli?”
[Yes, son.]
The reason Klai never feared that his dad wouldn’t accept him dating a man was because, back in high school, he had asked his dad…
“Dad… if I don’t like women, would you be okay with that?”
[…]
“I thought… I might like men.”
If that man could love Klai as much as Dad loves him.
[…]
“I would be okay with that.”
[…]
“But I think it’s rare… to find someone who can love you as much as I do.”
Klai gave a small smile as the conversation between father and son replayed in his mind…
“Tonight, Panli is staying over with me.”
[Oh, uh…]
“…”
[Well… that’s good, so you won’t be lonely.]
“…”
[When I found out you has a boyfriend… I didn’t know how to act.]
“…”
[I wanted to be protective, but I also wanted to be happy for you.
Klai laughed softly before saying, “Are you still okay as always?”
[…I might not have been okay if he hadn’t sent that message.]
“…”
[Because I wasn’t sure if Panli was sincere with Klai…]
“…”
[But after hearing stories from Ms. Lin’s mouth, plus what he asked Ms. Lin to tell Dad,]
“…”
[I’m totally okay with it now.]
“Thank you, Dad… thank you for giving Panli a chance.”
[Same here, son… thanks for opening up to Ms. Lin.]
“Once exams are over, I’ll bring Panli to have dinner at home.”
[Sounds good.]
“And I’ll stay over at home too, because I miss everyone so much.”
[Everyone misses you too, Klai.]
“…”
[Well then… I won’t disturb your sleep time with… uh… with Panli.]
Klai gave a small smile before saying, “Good night, Dad.”
[Good night to you too, son.]
After hanging up with Dad, Klai glanced down at the big puppy resting on his lap. The man smiled as their eyes met, his large hand reaching to hold Klai’s, pressing a loud kiss to the back of it…
“From what I overheard while lying here listening to KhunKlai talk to his father-in-law…”
“…”
“I’d say Dad’s definitely given the green light.”
“What did you ask Aunt to tell Dad?”
“…”
“It’s because of those words that he gave the green light.”
“I told him…”
“…”
“I love his son so much.”
Klai smiled softly, moving his hand to stroke Panli’s cheek before saying, “And his son loves you so much too, Li.”
And the smile of that same moon at this moment…
It made the “son of the Borirat family” fall so deeply in love with the “son of the Pisut family” that he couldn’t pull himself away.
